Full eBook Description

What if the problem is deeper than the fruit we see?

The Bible declares, “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work” — 2 Thessalonians 2:7. Iniquity is not merely an outward act; it is a hidden root within the heart that can influence thoughts, desires, choices, families, cultures, and even nations.

In The Mystery of Iniquity, Thomas A. Doggett, Th.M. explains the biblical difference between sin, transgression, and iniquity. This powerful teaching shows how sin is often the visible fruit, while iniquity is the hidden root that must be exposed, confessed, and brought under the cleansing power of God.

This booklet will help readers understand:

How iniquity works secretly within the heart
Why all sin is not the same
The difference between sin, transgression, and iniquity
How hidden roots produce visible fruit
Why repentance must go deeper than behavior
How God cleanses, restores, and transforms the heart

With strong biblical insight and a pastor’s heart, this eBook calls believers beyond surface religion and into a deeper work of surrender, cleansing, and spiritual freedom.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10

Discover the Hidden Root Behind Sin

If Iniquity Was Found in Lucifer, What About Us?

If Lucifer was cast out of heaven because iniquity was found in him, then we must soberly ask ourselves: What hidden root may still be operating in me?

“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.”— Psalm 66:18

King David said "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. This is why the root must be exposed. God does not merely deal with the fruit we display before men; He deals with the root we hide within the heart. Pride, jealousy, envy, hatred, racism, bitterness, and rebellion may remain unseen for a season, but when they are regarded instead of repented of, they hinder the flow of prayer and fellowship with God.

The root may be hidden, but God sees what is beneath the soil of the heart.

Yes, we are born again.
Yes, we love the Lord.
Yes, Jesus died for our sins, transgressions, and iniquities.

But salvation is not only something we receive — it is also something God works in us. The Scripture says:

“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”
— Philippians 2:12

This does not mean we work for salvation. It means we allow God to expose, cleanse, and uproot anything in the heart that does not belong to Him.

Iniquity is not always seen on the outside. It can be a hidden bend, a secret root, an inward rebellion, an attitude, a wound, a pride, a bitterness, or a pattern that keeps producing wrong fruit.

If iniquity could be found in Lucifer before the fall, then we must humbly pray like David:

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
— Psalm 51:10

The question is not just, “Am I saved?”
The deeper question is, “Lord, is there any root in me that still needs to be severed?”

Because the root may be hidden —but the fruit will eventually be seen.
